The Educator Standards Board met after a hiatus spurred by organizational changes mandated by Ohio House Bill 33. As part of HB33, the Ohio Department of Education (ODE) became the Ohio Department of Education and Workforce (DEW). The new DEW assumed some of the responsibilities previously held by the State Board of Education. The meeting emphasized that, despite these changes, the Ohio Educator Standards Board will continue its important work and will continue to fall under the leadership of the State Board of Education. The Ohio Standards Board is tasked with collaboratively promoting educator quality, professionalism, and public accountability on behalf of the students and citizens of Ohio and is comprised of teachers, school administrators, school board, parent, and community school representatives.
