Cavalier Intervention Specialists and Language Speech Pathologists have focused on Specially Designed Instruction (SDI) and calibrating IEP writing with the IEP Checklist based on the IDEA Monitoring Guide.  Educators dissected and discussed the what and why of SDI based on the book Specially Designed Instruction: Increasing Success for Students with Disabilities by Anne Beninghof. Feedback included the importance (appreciation) of being able to work in building teams and with other district educators in addition to the benefit of reviewing and discussing IEP components through the lens of the checklist.
