Teach CS Grant Awarded to the GVESC

The DeWine administration has announced the availability of grant funding for computer science teaching in Ohio. We're pleased to share that Gallia-Vinton ESC is one of 17 entities receiving this award, standing as the sole ESC south of Interstate 70. Up to 1,100 educators
can receive training through the Teach CS grants, with 650 newly credentialed and the rest continuing education. The seventeen education institutions will receive $6 million to cover training costs. Lt. Gov. Jon Husted emphasized the increasing demand for tech skills and the need for qualified teachers. The grants cover coursework, materials, and exams for K-12 teachers. Stephen D. Dackin, director of the Ohio Department of Education and Workforce, encourages districts to access funds for training.  An informational meeting is scheduled at the GVESC on Tuesday, February 27, 2024, from 5:00 pm to 6:00 pm. Teachers who are interested may also send inquiries to the GVESC by emailing [email protected].
