GVESC Business Advisory Council Meeting

Paul LaRueThe GVESC Business Advisory Council education subcommittee met on January 31, 2024, at Bob Evans Restaurant in Rio Grande, Ohio. Superintendent Dr. Denise Shockley and Assistant Superintendent Emily Crabtree welcomed members to discuss career activities in the area. They outlined the Career Connections Framework aligning with Ohio state standards for grades K-12. State Board of Education President Paul LaRue provided an update on the Department of Education and Workforce (DEW) reorganization and praised the GVESC's work. Representatives from area schools and Buckeye Hills Career Center discussed workforce changes due to technology and industry growth. Community providers shared career programs, including a STEM bus and financial literacy. Plans for sustaining these career and workforce development activities are ongoing at the GVESC and much appreciated by the representatives of the schools and community agencies attending the advisory meeting.
