Several local districts participate in the GVESC literacy collaborative. The purpose of this network is to bring educators together to discuss literacy practices and policies. In February 2024, the group met to discuss the state’s High-Quality Instructional Materials (HQIM) list as well as the state’s required professional development training on the science of reading. The meeting was facilitated by ESC team members Karen Boch, Jayne Burger, Julie Haines, and Katie Kilgour. The districts in attendance included Gallipolis City, Gallia County Local, Wellston City, Jackson City, Oak Hill Union, and Vinton County Local.
